Water and Sewer

The Water and Sewer division is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of City water and sewer lines that run throughout Belmont. In addition they also manage the following:

• Sewer outfalls and pump stations
• Residential and commercial water meters
• Water pressure testing
• Hydrant meter installation
• Meter tampering investigation
• New utility customer connections
• Utility stop service requests
• 24/7 response for water meter and main line shut off
• Backflow verification and management

In certain circumstances a resident or business may be required to have a Backflow preventer device installed at their property. The purpose of this device is to ensure that any water of which is not maintained by the City of Belmont, does not seep back into the main City water supply. This is in accordance with the Cross Connection Ordinance of the City. For more information about this Ordinance please see the Backflow Documents section below.
