Police Officer Hiring Process
Thank you for your interest in the Belmont Police Department. We are always looking for qualified applicants.
Application Pool
The department accepts applications year round whether a position is available or not. Should a position become available, the department will screen the existing applicant pool and call the most qualified applicants in for further evaluation.
Requirements
Applicants must have completed a North Carolina approved Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program. If you have not completed an approved BLET Program, please click HERE or on the image below to visit the North Carolina Department of Justice webpage for additional information.
Application Process
The application process includes the following steps:
- Interview Board
- Background Investigation
- Medical Physical
- Psychological Testing
- Firearms Qualification
- Captain of Police Interview
- Chief of Police Application Review
- Human Resources Application Review
Required Documentation
The following information must be submitted:
- Belmont Police Department Authority to Release Information Form (signed and notarized)
- City of Belmont Employment Application
- Copy of High School Diploma/GED and or College Diploma if applicable
- Copy of North Carolina Driver’s License
- Copy of Social Security Card
- F-3 Form
Application Submission
Once all forms and information have been gathered for the application, please put the information in a sealed envelope and either drop it off in person to the front desk at City Hall or mail it to the PO Box listed below.
