  2. Backyard/Urban Chicken Farming Workshop

    September 24, 2018, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ CONFERENCE ROOM BELMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT

Join us as we learn about the latest trends in backyard chicken farming! In response to the “urban chicken” movement flying across our state, the City of Belmont has partnered with NC State’s Cooperative Extension to host a collaborative workshop and everyone is invited! On September 24th, strut on down to the Belmont Police Department (201 Chronicle Street, Belmont) between 4:00 and 6:00 pm to find out more about this urban sustainability practice and to share your thoughts on Belmont’s latest draft chicken ordinance. Lara Worden, Area Agricultural Agent, will be speaking about best practices in urban chicken farming at 4:15 and 5:15 pm. All residents interested in backyard chicken farming are encouraged to ask questions and participate in this interactive workshop. For more information, please contact the City of Belmont Planning Department at 704-901-2610.
